I just discovered this new gospel singer, Onitsha. Funny name, huh? Well, it's the name of a town here in Nigeria. Her album is titled Church Girl. She didn't just start singing. No, she is actually a back-up singer for Mary Mary and has featured solo once or twice in a few of their concerts. I haven't heard the album myself but I'm looking for it. I can't wait to hear what Onitsha has to offer. She says that with so many people hurting in the world, she wanted to bring them a measure of hope through this cd. This new release is the start of a very promising solo career.
She's gonna have twins! I just found out. Oh my goodness. That is soooo cool. And she's just about 4 weeks to her due date. Gosh,I'm so happy for her. That is sooo cool. I'll keep you posted on whatever I find Out. Keep her in your prayers. Hmm...I should post one of her songs on here. The first time I heard her sing was on one of the Bill Gaither videos. Boy, can she sing. I was sooo captivated. She is really good. Oh well, I'll keep you posted.
The left behind series are probably the most popular christian fiction of our time. I never gave much thought of how they got the idea of thbooks but when I saw this, I thought people might be interested. You can find it at the website: Left Behind here's part of it:
Tim LaHaye says it all started during a discussion with one of his dearest friends, Shirley Peters—whose husband Art was his associate pastor. She mentioned the idea of the rapture taking place on an airplane. Tim says, "A few days later, I was flying across country to a prophecy conference, and this handsome, 42ish pilot stepped out of the cabin and started flirting with the chief flight attendant in the galley. I noticed he had a wedding ring on, but she didn't. I thought, these people are pretty friendly. And then I thought about the story Shirley had mentioned. What if the rapture took place right now? "According to a Gallup poll, about a third of the population is born again, so about a third of the people on the 747 would be gone. The flight attendant would discover their clothes and pound on the door and say, 'Captain, a hundred people are missing from our aircraft!' The rest is history."
I never heard of Pastor Michael Stevens but when I saw his book "Straight Up" confronting homosexuality in the church, I was like HALLELUYAH! tell them, Pastor! I mean, it's time someone spoke up. All this thing about 'homosexuality is okay' and all these bishops that come out to say they are homosexuals, it's just a lie of the devil. I think maybe, with Michael Stevens speaking up, many more people will speak up and maybe, just maybe, we can kick this thing out of the christian community.
Speaking of Kirk Franklin, Let it go is, in my own opinion, one of the best songs Kirk has written and sang. It's a very emotional song. Since I heard it, I've loved it. I saw this on you tube. I think someone kinda put pictures with the song and I think it's really good so enjoy. What do you think about it?
I was reading some article on gospel flava and I saw that Kirk is shooting a new movie 'Church Boy'. It's his life story and it's set to come out sometime next year. I was like WOW! I've heard his testimony and it really touched me and so, hearing that a movie is coming out, I can't wait to see it. Also, I heard that he's bringing ou a clothings line later this year. I see that Kirk is really busy.
The stellar award winners list has been posted. If you are a Donnie McClurkin fan or a Mary Mary fan like me, don't be disappointed. They didn't win anything. How come? Oh well, there are other awards and such. But click here to find out which of your other artists won. If you are interested to see a day to day summary of how it went, click here.
Right now, one of my best artists is Deitrick Haddon. The first song I heard from him was "Sinners Prayer" and I just thought WOW! Then I listened to some of his other songs and CD's and I just love his music, his songs, the lyrics and everything. I also found out he is a Pastor's kid and had always wanted to minister to people through song. Well, I couldn't resist when I saw this on youtube so I hope you enjoy it.
Gospel innovator, vocalist, songwriter/producer and commissioned alumnus Montrel Darrett is releasing his long awaited Soul Metal project sometime in march this year. I know commissioned and I love their music so I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for this album. via: www.gospelflava.com
Good news y'all. I just read on Gospel Flava that Tina Campbell of Mary Mary and her husband Teddy, are expecting a new baby. The baby is due mid-july this year. This will be the second child of the couple. They have a three year old daughter, Laiah, soon to be a big sister. Congratulations!

The name evokes an appeal to above, a spiritual call, a joyful noise. Which is why singer/songwiters Erica and Tina Atkins chose "Mary Mary" as their performance moniker. "We were thinking about the Mary's in the bible, particularly Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of Jesus. Both were very instrumental in Christ's ministries. It's all about Jesus and telling people who He is and of His love. That's the whole purpose behind Mary Mary. Born to gospel singing parents, Erica, who is slightly older, and Tina were raised in a strict churchgoing family in inglewood, California alongside 5 sisters and a brother. After singing back-up for a variety of singers, a chance meeting with Warryn Campbell in 1996 led to a collaboration between Campbell and the sisters. Mary Mary chose to sign with Columbia Records, the first gospel act to be signed to that label. They define themselves as strictly gospel-and not just inspirational-artists. "Inspirational music makes you feel good, like you can go on and make it; but the Gospel tells you what God can do and tells the good news of Jesus" explain the sisters. They have come a long way since then, releasing about 4 major albums and many more works. You know them, you love them, they are Mary Mary. Via: Gospel City
I was browsing various Gospel sites and I came across this on Gospelflava. "Gospel music is experiencing great growth internationally. Evidence comes from the Dec 1, 2006 concert in Lagos, Nigeria, in which 85,000 people turned out to hear Kirk Franklin, Israel& New Breed, Donnie McClurkin, Lionel Peterson, Mighty Samba and others." Yeah, I'm from Lagos, Nigeria and that concert was the coolest. Guess what? I didn't get to go which is very sad because Donnie happens to be my all-time favorite singer but lots of my friends went and from what I heard, they had a wonderful time. Sign me up for the next gospel concert that's gonna be held in Lagos. I was really happy because a lot of young people from my school went and it is a great opportunity to minister the gospel to young people in song. Most young people like music and so they are easier to reach that way. Donnie, Kirk and all you gospel artists, keep doing your thing.
